Reflect upon what you believe customer service skills are important for you to have as an administrative professional and why. How can you demonstrate this importance to your customers? What will you do?
To have good customer service skills you need to be a good listener, compassionate, and courteous to the customers. Having these skills with make your job easy by helping to calm the customer, letting them know that you understand their problems, and sincerely want to help fix their problem. Having good customer service skills will keep customers loyal, happy, and easier to work with when there is a problem.
When I was younger, I worked a lot of minimum wage jobs that required a lot of customer service skills. I like to think that I gained a lot of experience in keeping the customer happy, as well as giving them what they need. I believe it is very important to keep a positive attitude and always present yourself as wanting to help. Letting the customer know that you are interested, concerned, and value their business, will keep them coming to you for service.
Positive attitude, showing respect, actively listening, remaining calm, and going the extra mile are important customer service skills. I would allow the customer to explain the issue, empathize and apologize, if necessary, then ask questions to help me come up with a reasonable, yet satisfactory solution. I want the customer to feel that I care about them and want them to be happy with the solution and my company.
I believe in understanding the customer's needs and finding an answer. I will listen carefully and repeat back what I have heard. If I need a few moments to find a solution, I will take down their information and call them back.
In my current position as an administrative professional, it is very important that I have great customer service skills. I deal with all types of professional's from the highest person in the office to the delivery guy. I feel that being able to understand the needs of clients helps me as grow as an individual. One of the attorneys made a comment about me, he said "That I have empathy and it show's when I am dealing with clients". I was very surprised to her that, because I do try to give my best in all that I set out to accomplish. I truly believe by having good customer service, it not only enhances the ability to be great, but it gives you a sense of gratitude.
Problem-solving is one of the great characteristic of good customer service. Resolving conflict by being creative with ways to find a solution to their dilemma can be valuable to the customer and to the company that you work for. The story of an employee at Marshall Field's that allowed a customer to access the store before its opening time to find a nice suit for his job interview is one of the creative way to solve his situation.
Customer service skills are important because we represent the company, and we are the image of the company. My former boss always told me that customers are always right, we have to respect them even though they are rude or unreasonable. We also have to control our emotion. If they ask for information, we cannot answer them that we don't know. If we don't know the answer, we will check and call them back.
