Reflect upon how this chapter, and the movie, helped you understand the importance of ethical behavior in and out of the workplace.

  1. This movie has given me a whole new perspective on things. When looking at a problem I would want to hear both sides of the story instead of just listening to one side. Especially where I work there are tons and tons of problems that go around with the employees. Gossip just builds and builds on who said what or who did what. Now when it comes to a problem at work with my employees I would have everyone talk it out in in front of each other and see where the problem had occurred.

  2. The first thing that comes to mind about the chapter and the movie is that your own personal experiences persuade your thoughts. It is very hard to put your own feelings associated with certain experiences aside, but this needs to be done. Also, trying to view a situation from the other's perspective is very important while conducting conversations, sending and e-mail, talking with an angry customer, etc. These things, along with many others, influence the way you choose to make the "right" choice.

  3. I think it is important to convey yourself in a professional and ethical manner. If you raise your voice or become "easily excited", it may reflect poorly on your reputation. People may not respect a person who cannot hold their composure and express their opinions rationally. Willingness to listen and attempt to understand a situation from another's point of view is a trait that people will respect, and hopefully reflect. I try to be understanding and promote open communication any time there is an obvious need for discussion. I find discussion or debate goes much smoother if both or all parties are given equal opportunity to express themselves.

  4. I really liked this movie, It gave good example of ethical behaviors. I like how this chapter is about how people view others, and how they react to certain events. I think the main thing this chapter is teaching us, is that even in stressful situations you should think really hard about your behavior. Think about how you react to situations, treat others who are different, always reflect on the person you want to be, and be that person.

  5. This movie showed me that sometimes us as people are to quick to judge someone, either from race, culture or anything. We don't give ourselves time to get to know each other and sometimes that can mislead us to something not so good. Like in the movie their decision was based on the life of a boy. Something that should have been taken seriously since the beginning.

  6. The movie helped me understand the importance of not letting our personal experiences or bias cloud our judgment. We should tried to enter every situation with an open mind and free a prejudices.

  7. After seeing the movie tonight, It made me have a different understanding on we can be so quick to judge and follow suit instead of looking at all that has been presented. This chapter has helped me understand the importance of having-being ethical in every decision that I make in life. It is very important to know that what I do or say, I am able to look at myself in mirror and know that I have made the right choices and are okay with them.

  8. I remember seeing this movie many years ago, and I enjoyed seeing the classic tale of putting yourself in another person's perspective. During the movie; I noted that Henry Fonda was willing to listen to each jury member's explanation for their vote on the boy's life, yet he uses his perceptions to show that anyone can get a switchblade knife, and that it was impossible for a man with lame leg to run to the door and see a boy run downstairs in fifteen minutes. Crowded room, everyone was hot and sweaty, one juror suffering with sinusitis, and one juror seemed to be so angry throughout the ordeal, all combined to create enough stress to make it difficult for them to vote with a clear mind. I have experience stress similar to their situation, and the best way to manage it is either open the window and smile.

  9. I should practice the same ethical behavior outside the workplace that I practice in the workplace. Before making a decision I should carefully consider the facts, options and consequences; I should also consider whether the decision I make is non-discriminative and what I think is the best decision for all involved. I enjoyed the movie and found it interesting how everything evolved. I could relate many prior situations I have experienced to the various situations in the movie. I also believe I need to be more careful with my decisions during stressful situations because it can be so easy to make a hasty decision without reviewing all the facts and options.

  10. I never realized that ethical behavior is very important in and out of the workplace. This chapter taught me that if I have complain at work, I need to go directly to my supervisor. We have also to be able to control our anger, willing to be a good listener and respect each other.
